New Brighton Super Prestige CX Course Map
Tomorrow! It happens!
If you're the kind of person that's interested, please find a course map, showing Registration, and all those good things, below.
Please respect the Dog Park (to the East of the pool) as we are sharing this space with many park users. If you can warm up on the outskirts of the park, or during times between races, we will very likely be welcomed back to the park. Otherwise, you'll ruin everything and no one wants that.
Parking is copious, though it would be wicked if you could carpool.
If you are interested in setting up a team tent, if you can get in early, and we'll try to help out. Driving on the grass is a no no (don't follow the park vehicles as an example).
Neutral Support will be run by our dear friends at Mighty Riders! Wheels in, wheels out! Provided you're super nice, you might even get a cup of Musette Caffe brewed 49th Parallel.
Prizes have been put together, and with amazing things from Lazer Helmets, like their R2 OD (feels so nice on your head), Topeak pumps, Lizard Skins and Norco. We are also looking forward to presenting the Chrome Winners Jersey to our First Single Speed finisher - a jersey Chrome keeps out of their product catalog and only in the hands of some damn hard racers.
And don't forget, Brodie is slathering our Facebook with their Brodie Pact Frame/Fork giveaway! You keep coming to the CX races, we'll keep your name in the drawing! Yay!
We're stoked and probably not going to sleep a wink. We'll see you in the morning!

Race Report - Fort Langley CX Classic
Ladies and Gents. Thank you.
Fort Langley CX Classic was a huge success. A hot, dusty, rock-laden success; and it's thanks to you. I even got to get my ass kicked by some of the best racers in BC.
We had our massive support team from Mighty Riders out, registering, taping, yelling, bleeding, just for you folks. It's a major boon to an event when the volunteers are way smarter than the organizers. It helps to ply them with Musette coffee...
It's also important to note that this event was well supported by our series partners, Norco Bicycles; Steve showed up with a huge booth, Norco tester bikes (that I totally should have used as a course setup bike) and some incredible swag for winners, including Lazer Helmets and Topeak pumps.
Our dear friend Andrew from Brodie bikes cracked open the swag bag for us, as well as providing some killer finish line flags, so we could figure out where the hell we were supposed to sprint to on that hot dusty gravel. As a reminder, Brodie has ponied up a PACT frame and fork for our VCXC series. Deets on the Facebook Page. He also has no problem with a brandy-handup.
Finally, for a last bit of callout, we were so deeply excited to get Beer Thirst on board for our races this year. they provided us enough beer to go two deep for each category, with beers from Green Flash, Elysian Brewing, Bear Republic and Alameda - check out where you can drink these now that we've given them all away.
For those of you jonesing for results, here are top 5 for each category. I will upload a condensed spreadsheet for full results as I can. These results are being forwarded to Jeff of Vancouver SuperPrestige to be counted towards the series points.

Fort Langley Cyclocross Classic
It's what you want, now it's here.
The inaugural race of the 2012 season is upon us. Please join us at Aldor Acres Farm in Fort Langley for the Fort Langley Cyclocross Classic, presented by Mighty Riders and our generous sponsors.
You can find the course, roughly outlined (we reserve the right to make it harder on you), here: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/fullscreen/129020363/
OR look at it in this adorable little photo. T represents the Team Alley area, flag the start/finish timing area. Wheel pit is across from the start. The rest, I hope they come through loud and clear.
There will be coffee, BBQ food (including veggie options, much to the farmer's chagrin), beer prizes, kids races and of course, wonderful farm animals! Please remember to leave your dogs at home, we don't want them scaring the goats.
Registration starts at 9:30 and closes 15 minutes before each races starts. This race will use the Cycling BC points callup from last year's BC Cup, and we will expect you to suffer with your appropriate category. Put your numbers on the right side, and we'll see you on course.
Cheers,
V.CX.C

categories and times
Ermahgerd, it's almost CX season. I know, I know, you're like "but meat, the summer just got here, I can't be thinking about Flemish Tan Lines". And believe me, I'm revelling in the summer, taking my sweet time away to ride bikes and drink beers (and do secret altitude training). However, it's been put off long enough and it's Business Time, which means we need to hike up our socks and give the people races.
This year brings a new category to V.CX.C events; Single Speed. This is an equipment-based category so bring your fixed gear with knubbies, your Nebraska Corn Cob or just your regular CX bike with the gearing locked out . They will be starting at 1PM, after the Elites go out, as we all know single speed racers are lazy bums who are busy sleeping off their hangovers.
Details for each of the events, such as course layout, series points and day-of sponsors will be up at vancrosscoalition.blogspot.ca/ with ample time to decide what kind of tires to mount and convince your significant other to drive you out to the race.
Tell your kids, tell your friends. If you know people new to CX, you should point them towards our dear friend Kevin Noiles, who is running a Cross Clinic: Intro to Cyclocross Racing Clinic . You don't want to head into your first cross race and pull a Joey. If you're in need of a CX bike for it, try touching base with Jay "Showtime" about either his Argon Arsenic 18 or his Jake the Snake Single Speed build ... And yes, he paid me to drop these in here. But not very much.
Stay tuned!

one more time
Welcome to Vancouver Cyclocross Coalition. We are here to make your life muddy.
Alright; our last little post was a tester, a tease, and now we're getting things done. This year has started out with a slow release of scheduling from the Vancouver cyclocross scene, so here's as much as we can give you right now. We have 2 dates confirmed, more coming. Start marking your schedules. There will be more information as soon as we can provide.
This'll have to do right now |
We will be rolling out more information as we can; this also includes a TWITTER (omg) account @v_cx_c which will post smaller updates including day-of race results and other useless crap you probably don't want to hear about.
We encourage you to tell your friends, tell your family, we want Vancouver to remember, CX isn't just a race, it's a lifestyle choice. Come, hang out, bring some camping chairs and replace your pit-bike with a six-pack. You look better when you're relaxed*.
